Eric Elliott

Dulcimer musician brought a different kind of folk to campus

Songs:
“Door to Door”
“Moving Up North”

If you’ve been to local festivals and county fairs around Texas, you might have seen a dulcimer in the lap of a white haired person playing old folksy tunes. But in Eric Elliott’s hands, the instrument reaches beyond its roots in the Appalachian Mountains to a more modern setting with loop pedals and original lyrics. The instrument’s doubled strings bring a fullness that complements Eric’s singing to form really interesting and adventurous songs. It gets even better on his recorded material with a full band to flesh out the sound. Give his music a listen and keep your eye out for upcoming shows! This is folk music like you’ve never seen it before.
