Neon Neon- Stainless Style

RiYL: Hercules & Love Affair, Super Furry Animals, Glass Candy

Is it rap? Is it electropop? Is it just alternative? Well my friends, I don’t know. I do know that they’re hittin’ the ritz after I heard “Raquel” at the mall not that play time at Express is any indicator of good music. It seems someone with musical powers in a cubicle believes Neon Neon has the ability to transcend the indie universe and appeal to mainstream consumers who like big lions.
But enough about lions, the music is where I’m at. Collaborations with Spank Rock no doubt produced songs like “Sweat Shop” and “Luxury Pool” which sound nothing like the rest of the album, but then again none of the album sounds similar. This is because along with a Spank Rock influence, I can easily see how that transported themselves back to the 80s and watched Star Wars 117 times before coming back and making this album. Songs like “Belfast” and “Michael Douglas” are perfect examples of the 80s transfusion. Finally Neon Neon has the cutest song that I’ve heard in a long time. “I Lust U” has a little kid beat that’s so playful and full of jest it’s surprising that the song is about prostitution. I love the 80s and I love electro[anything] so is it really surprising that I like “Stainless Style”?
